Dreaming

It's a perfect night for dreaming, Ooh, oh, And I'm dreaming of you. As the sun kisses the autumn leaves, Colors clouds with a rose hue. Wonder

"Fatigue robs us of wonder. Rest reveals it." ~Billie Cash. Sometimes I just need to stop . . . Sit by a creek and listen to the water flow. Sleep in. Marvel at creation. Turn my phone OFF. Spend unhurried time in the Word of God. Cause in the middle of the craziness of life, Sometimes I get too focused on the normal. Eyes lose their sparkle. Laughter loses it's frequency. I forget to stop and smell the roses. "Be still, and know that I am God!     I will be honored by every nation.     I will be honored throughout the world."             ~Psalm 46:10 When was the last time you did that? For me it was this past weekend.  But it doesn't have to be a weekend. It can be just an hour, just a moment, where you are STILL. That means your mind isn't going a million miles a second! In that stillness, know He is God. He will receive glory from this world . . . look at how that's happening. Breathe . . . He gave y...

Trust

"Close your eyes." Eyes go shut. "Ok, you can look." Open eyes again look up at the screen. I watched a movie the other day with some friends.  I'd never seen it before, didn't know what was coming.  From her description, though, I knew there were images in it I wouldn't want in my head.  She knew too, and promised to warn me.  So we sat side-by-side.  Whispered exchange of when to look & when not.  I did what she told me to, without question. Implicit trust. Beautiful. She knew what was coming.  I didn't.  She also knows me.  So I trusted, and came away without having seen anything violent that would give me nightmares. God's like that.  He know's what is coming when we don't.  He also knows us...far better than any human ever could!  So we can rest in Him.  We can walk through life, depending on His Spirit's guidance each step of the way. Implicit trust. Beautiful!

22's Eve

It's the eve of turning 22, A new year of life's about to begin! I'm ready, excited, and anticipating much. Jesus has brought me far in the year of 21 And I'm thankful for so many things. Mostly though, I'm thankful for Him, His sacrifice, New life, And the joy of each moment spent with Him! So as I turn to 22, My birthday wish would be, To grow in loving Jesus more No matter what life brings. This new year is exciting, With many corners and pages to turn. I cannot see around them, But the One who walks beside me can!   I really don't know All this year will hold, But what I do know is . . . He's doing exciting things. And so I live anticipating, Wondering, Smiling, Trusting. Days will come it's hard. I know, But I want to cling to this: My God is ever faithful. It's in His grace I rest. When I'm weak, He is strong. He is always and ever with me. Life is beautiful. 22, I'm ready for you. (But I'll e...

An Overview of 2013: August

Musings from August of this past year... 3~That You spoke and this world came to be just boggles my mind! Walking as a child of light does not mean that I’m doing it perfect all the time, but that I am trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord! 5~Do I see this world as a playground or a battlefield?  “Today men think…we are not here to fight, we are here to frolic.  We are not in a foreign land, we are at home.  We are not getting ready to live, we are already living.” ~A.W. Tozer 11~Lord, You are just as much my God as You are Pastor Keith’s God, as You are Eric and Leslie Ludy’s God, as You are Amy Carmichael and Corrie TenBoom’s God!  I pray, Lord, that You would reveal Your power in my life in mighty ways! 12~Lord, may Your life in me spring up as a wellspring of refreshing water. 16~ “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months...

An Overview of 2013: July

7~ “We channel God’s grace in disagreements—not primarily by being nice, but by making much of Jesus Christ who freely Bought us with His own blood (Rev 1:7).   If Jesus, or the advance of His gospel is at stake, that’s worth disagreeing about.   Not much else is.” –Pastor Keith Make these pages a catalyst to remembering and standing on who my God is and how He works! (In the beginning of a new journal) 10~Your creation is beautiful, and yet I know it must be just a little glimpse at Your beauty!  Wow, Lord!  I can’t wait to see Your face.  And yet, I fear it at the same time…will I be found worthy?  I praise You, Lord, that it is not dependent on my worthiness, this living in Your presence. Lord Jesus, my beloved friend, Oh!  You know me so well.  Sometimes when You open my eyes to something in my life I didn’t really see before, its overwhelming.  But You knew…even before I did.  Lord soak these verses deep down in my soul...

I love you.

Snowflakes dancing their way down from the sky send a special ray of hope into this heart of mine.  I guess you could say it all goes back to that one day . . . was it really 5 years ago now? Wow. Time does fly. In the midst of a season where joy was oh so difficult to see, filled with doctor's visits and no energy . . . I remember this like it was yesterday.  Walking out of the doctor's office one afternoon, after another session of blood work (blood I didn't feel like I could afford to lose), the first flakes of snow were beginning to fall.  And I didn't need energy to enjoy their beauty.  In that moment, my Lord whispered, I love you , and He used the snow. So I guess, for me . . . the snow is a reminder of God's love.  Why?  Oh, I could probably give you a lot of really great reasons, but it's all really quite simple . . . and profound.  He's a personal God, and one difficult day some simple snowflakes reminded me of His love.  I suspect t...

Winter Reflections.

Earlier today, I froze my nose as I walked through the snowy fields with mom.  Now I sit encased in warmth, a mug of tea at my side and candles flickering on top of my bookshelf, searching for the words to share this beauty.  The beauty of snow over empty fields, death covered in purest white, my life exchanged for His . . . Do you see it?  This beauty that makes the world go ‘round?  It tugs at my heart, and burdens me somehow, I suppose because others need to see . . . and don’t. As I walked through the snow today, I marveled at its radiant whiteness.  Just days ago, the world looked dead (there was a stark beauty even in that, but it was not quite the same).  Now, although the temperatures have dropped, this freezing white stuff has added a wonderful encasement of brightness to our dead, dead world.  It covers the barren fields with shimmers and causes the empty branches to glisten in the sunlight. The beauty of it all captures my heart, but n...

The Sky was Singing Glory . . .

Image
The sky was singing glory on my way to work today.  It was a perfect transition from time spent at the feet of Jesus to entering the hustle and bustle of work.  The sky does it's job so well.  It never rebels . . . I do. So as I gazed upon the glorious sun rising for the day, I prayed the Lord would make me a glory reflecting light today. Later, the guests kept telling me about the rain falling, and I kept forgetting.  They'd tell me, and I'd respond, "Oh, really?  But the sunrise this morning was so beautiful . . ."  See I was so enraptured by that sunrise, I could hardly take in the rain.  I could see it out the windows.  Yet, my mind just kept going back to the sunrise. Does it keep going back to Jesus?  My mind?  Yours?  That's when we'll reflect His glory to a world drowning in rain.  Remembering His presence is a moment-by-moment choice.  Today, He blessed me with reminders and put a song in my heart.  Peo...
