I'm memorizing parts of Psalm 56 with a friend right now, And the last two verses go: "Your vows are binding upon me, O God;  I will render thank offerings to You. For You have delivered my soul from death,  Indeed my feet from stumbling,  So that I may walk before God  In the light of the living" (vs. 12-13 NASB). God deserves praise and thanksgiving, And He calls us to it. I think He must know our souls need it. It's a reminder of our dependence. And hasn't much of life been that recently? A reminder that we are not in control... As we so often like to think we are? I am thankful. Thankful to be reminded to more daily walk  In dependence on the Lord. The struggles grow us, friends! And while I'm looking forward to the day Grocery shopping will be more enjoyable than stressful again, I'm thankful for grocery stores, And I'm thankful for God's provision  of so much more than what we need to ea...

Words Etched on the Brain in Indelible Ink

I'd like to share with you something I wrote 6 years ago.  It still holds true today...though I may be a tad bit rusty on Psalm 16. It's funny...we were hosting kiddos in our home at the time, and although I had none of my own, wasn't even married yet, I felt like I was getting a taste of what motherhood would look like.  And in that, I recognized the incredible value of God's Word and my need for it.  And particularly my need to memorize it! Life for most of us looks vastly different these days.  And again, I can't tell you how thankful I am for the verses I have stored away in my mind!  Because they are there, God can bring them up when I'm struggling.  He uses them to minister peace to my soul, and to challenge my heart!  Some days I get a few moments to hold my Bible open before my face, some days its longer...but oh how I need those words! As we've been walking through this time of uncertainty in our world, I've been feeling the need for mor...

A Plea

"Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word." ~2 Thessalonians 2:16-17~ I'm so thankful these days for eternal comfort and good hope.  The world is uncertain.  God is not.  My future is not.  And I know that the future I have to look forward to is SO BRIGHT!  That is where I find rest and hope. Why? Because God has worked, through Christ, to reconcile me to Himself.  And that gives me reason to hope, reason to rejoice, reason to be comforted!  He has given me the gift of eternal life...life forever with Him. As I rejoice in these truths though, my heart also weighs heavy inside me.  For I know that although "God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them..." (2 Cor. 5:19).  Not everyone chooses to receive that reconciliation.  ...

Good afternoon friends! What are you thankful for today? In a time when routine seems thrown out the window, And things are changing often and quickly, I've found thanksgiving... particularly as it centers on who God is, to be an anchor for my soul. Today I'm praising God for: Being My Rock My Refuge (Psalm 62:7) Being a place we can dwell, A fortress we can trust in (Psalm 91:1-2) His Word,  Which tells us these things about who He is! Words of truth in songs to sing. Books, Naps, Beautiful sunshine, Seeds popping through the ground, The reminder of new life they are. Extra time with Carl, Hudson's new words. :) Prayer Grace "On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah." ~Psalms 62:7-8
