An Overview of 2013: April

I'm loving the reminders of neat opportunities God gave me to be involved in, pray for, and speak truth into random people's lives last year as I read back over it! April's writing tidbits . . . 2~It’s so easy to forget, but You are with me…teach me to remember.  4~Believe Truth!       Remember Jesus…         Trust His Word.           Recount His faithfulness!             Rejoice in God’s presence.               Reckon yourself dead~                 Alive in Christ!                   Delight in the Lord…             ...

Abiding

Sometimes another's words say it best . . . "But by HIS DOING you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption."  ~1 Corinthians 1:30 "Dear souls!  How little they know that the abiding in Christ is just meant for the weak, and so beautifully suited to their feebleness.  It is not the doing of some great thing, and does not demand that we first lead a very holy and devoted life.  No, it is simply weakness entrusting itself to a Mighty One to be kept--the unfaithful one casting self on One who is altogether trustworthy and true.  Abiding in Him is not a work that we have to do as the condition for enjoying His salvation, but a consenting to let Him do all for us, and in us, and through us.  It is a work He does for us--the fruit and the power of His redeeming love.  Our part is simply to yield, to trust . . ." ~Andrew Murray "Abide in Me and I in you.  As the branch cannot bear fr...

The Sky was Singing Glory . . .

Image
The sky was singing glory on my way to work today.  It was a perfect transition from time spent at the feet of Jesus to entering the hustle and bustle of work.  The sky does it's job so well.  It never rebels . . . I do. So as I gazed upon the glorious sun rising for the day, I prayed the Lord would make me a glory reflecting light today. Later, the guests kept telling me about the rain falling, and I kept forgetting.  They'd tell me, and I'd respond, "Oh, really?  But the sunrise this morning was so beautiful . . ."  See I was so enraptured by that sunrise, I could hardly take in the rain.  I could see it out the windows.  Yet, my mind just kept going back to the sunrise. Does it keep going back to Jesus?  My mind?  Yours?  That's when we'll reflect His glory to a world drowning in rain.  Remembering His presence is a moment-by-moment choice.  Today, He blessed me with reminders and put a song in my heart.  Peo...

What makes a day good . . .

Me: It's been a good day. Mom: What made it good? Me: Jesus . . . and remembering Him. A simple exchange of words in the kitchen yesterday afternoon, that I've been pondering since.  Because truly, Jesus' presence with me does make a day good, no matter what it's schedule includes.  The trick is remembering He is with me.  He is always there--desiring my full attention, painting beautiful pictures in the sky, wanting to teach me from His Word, loving me more fully than I will ever comprehend--but unfortunately I don't always remember to look for Him.  I'm not constantly purposing to abide. Even the simplest, most mundane of days can be joy filled when I remember He loves me and lives inside--when I consider the fact that my life "is hidden with Christ in God" (Col. 3:3).  For "in His presence is fullness of joy; at His right hand are pleasures forevermore" (Psalm 16:11). As a birthday approaches and a new year of life is about to begin,...

Living in His presence

As God continues to challenge me in this area of living every moment of every day in His presence I'm learning that that's the starting point for quite a few other lessons.  In actuality, I am living in His presence every moment of every day, the question is whether I'm living in awareness of His presence. As I try to put this lesson into practice in my life, I'd like to share a few of the things I'm learning through it: When I'm living in the awareness of His presence I start to see people through His eyes.  And when I see them through His eyes, it becomes easier to love them with His heart. I'm less concerned about my comfort and more concerned about His glory.  Last night I was reading It's Not About Me by Max Lucado, in there he talks about 2 Corinthians 4:17, which says, "For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison."  He's talking about the brevity of life when compar...

Ouch!

This morning I finished reading the 3rd chapter of A.W. Tozer's book, The Pursuit of God .  It has a really tough message, put in a not so gentle way.  Thus, my title. Lately God's been revealing to me that I need to "practice His presence" more.  Why?  Well I'm in the middle of reading a book entitled Practicing His Presence .  I think that has something to do with it.  But seriously, that book has been hugely challenging to me.  And then I go and read chapter three of The Pursuit of God.   Haha!  I guess God knows that I don't catch hints very easily.  When He tries to teach me something He makes sure I have all the material necessary to learn my lesson.  (For convenience sake I'm going to shorten the book titles to PHP and PoG from here on out.) In reading PHP I was challenged to think about God a second of every minute . . . I knew I wouldn't succeed of course (at least at first), but I wanted to try to do it as much as poss...
