Incomprehensible

"Oh the depths of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!   How unsearchable are His judgements and unfathomable His ways!   For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor?   Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to Him again?   For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.   To Him be the glory forever.   Amen." ~Romans 11:33-36~ "I will extol You, my God, O King, and I will bless Your name forever and ever.  Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable ." ~Psalm 145:1-3~ "Great is our Lord and abundant in strength;  His understanding is infinite. " ~Psalm 147:5 Consider with me for a moment the bigness of these words describing my God. Unsearchable. Unfathomable. Abundant. Infinite. This God I serve is so huge that ...

It's a beautiful Thursday... Today I'm thankful for: Strawberries starting to turn red, Snuggles from little ones... Being an aunt is the best! Dear friends and family to spend time with. Long (but never long enough) talks and prayer times with KJ. Pictures hung on the wall, Opportunities to bake for others, Water to drink, Blue skies and sunshine, The righteousness of Christ that clothes me. Song: He Holds Me Fast. Yellow candles, Purple flowers, Zucchini plants popping through the soil. Spinach growing. Music and the chance to share it. Outdoor work. Verses of truth. Good books and opportunities to read them with my husband! A library close by. Creativity. New life of spring. Technology allowing me to talk with family far away. Not the end. :)

Words.

Sometimes my soul craves words: Good words. True words. Creative words. Life-giving words. And sometimes, My soul craves the ability to express itself in words: Good, True, Creative, Life-giving ones. And often, Where those two cravings mesh, I feel inadequate. Hungry, yet not satisfied. Searching, yet unable to create in the abundant, life-giving way I desire. Still, I try. I reach out my hands, And try to grasp the sky. For in those moments, I am craving the Creator, And craving a way in which I can be His image-bearer- Not fully, no, But in some little way in my own little corner of the world, I can be a reflection of His majesty, And I can learn to know Him more fully. And truly, Friends, That's what life's about. My feelings of inadequacy are good, When they send me running to Christ. For in Him I find the adequacy I'm searching for. "But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who...

Hello all! I seem to have come down with some sort of food poisoning last night, Ick. But even in the midst of that,  There are things for which to give God praise! Today I'm thankful for: God's Word And other good books to keep me company. My sweet husband coming home from work to make rice for me-- also, his hugs. Water, Gingerale, Bananas-- Just the fact that God made foods that will agree with upset stomachs! Sister-in-law's and piano students checking in on me. (I'm loved) A letter from a best friend in my mailbox, (Thanks KJ!) And it's encouragement to write. Music, Sunshine peaking through the clouds, Rain to water my newly planted garden. But most of all for a God who faithfully sees me through each day of my life, The good and the bad... He always remains faithful!

Infinite

Yesterday some young ladies from church and I started a study on the book titled,  None Like Him  by Jen Wilkin. Each chapter talks about an attribute of God that He alone has- meaning we don't share it. In the introduction, Wilkin gives us her goal for the book, "In the pages that follow, I want us to consider the majesty of a limitless God.  I want us to meditate on his perfections so that they become to us the most rational object of our reverence and awe.  And along the way, I want us to stare down our tendency to ask others and even ourselves to be what only God is.  Life is too short and too precious to spend fearing the wrong things in the wrong ways.  I propose we learn holy fear for a God like no other." Amen.  As we go through this study, I'm going to attempt to post each week some thoughts on the attribute we're studying that week.  Please feel free to leave your own thoughts and questions in the comments...I'd love fo...

You know, There's something about writing my prayers that makes me think about them more. Not always,  It's routine for me,  And routines can sometimes lose their meaning.   But just the fact that it takes me longer to write a prayer  than it does to think of what I want to pray-- This helps to shift me off autopilot-- at least some days. It caught me this morning.   As I got ready to thank God for the day, This thought: How often do I thank Him for His blessings,  And yet forget to praise Him for Himself? And so today, instead of a list of things... join me as I take 5 minutes to  meditate on, delight in, And give the glory due His name, to the King of kings, Lord of lords, the Great I am. Lord, You are awesome, the only One truly deserving of that description.   You are Beyond description, Too marvelous for words. You grace space and time with the fullness of Your presence constantly, ...
