Learning to live for HIS glory

Yesterday was a long day, Lived on not much sleep. But although this post didn't get written, It did get thought about. Because even in the midst of sore throats and little sleep, God is worthy of praise. Today I thank Him for: Being eternal. Lemon water. Flowers from my husband. Sleep. Music. Books to read. My gardens. Bookshelves. Family. Prayer... The ability to wage war from my home. His armor (Eph. 6). The Begotten Son of God. The choice He made before time, To create a people who would need saving. And also the choice to be that Savior. Last weekends success. God's Word: our Sword. Skits that illustrate truth.

Hello from my dining room table! This table has been full this week, As well as our schedule. In the midst of the craziness sometimes it's harder to pause and count the good. But disciplines like these are helpful. I'm reminded as I write of my dependence, And of abundant grace... As the Giver of every good gift, Has chosen to give to me... Today I praise Him for: Handwritten addresses on an envelope stack... Tangible proof of boys whose lives we have a chance to impact this weekend, Prayer and praise... A God who cares,  Who loves. Simple meals. Friends who share their lives, And invite me to share mine with them. Progress made in my gardens. Flowers from home. A peony plant :) Pictures. Times of rest. Water. Fresh air, and walks to enjoy it. Daisies, Music, Chalkboard sayings, Signs that speak truth. God's awesome creation. Brother hugs. Breakfast with my husband. The gospel of John, Particularly chapter...

Happy Thursday all! :) I've been thoroughly enjoying gardening recently... And the additions I can make to my household decor as a result!  I hope you enjoy this snapshot of it too. :) Today as I take 5 minutes to contemplate my blessings, I'm praising God for: Light, particularly sunlight. Open windows, Fresh air, And cool breezes. Flower shopping, The neighbor bringing over Peonies, My vegetable garden, Yellow candles, Mint tea, Dahlias, Good books, Fun, Laughter, Jokes, Good conversation, Delicious food, Time with family, Water, Screens in my windows, Pictures on the wall, Houseguests coming next week!!!! Time to spend in His word. First harvested berries, Dreams, A husband to dream with.

This past week, the girls and I studied God as the Self-existent one. It's pretty amazing when you go back and read Genesis, And think about the fact that He created...out of nothing... (but His word). That's just not possible for us. And as the Creator of all, He is other. Set-apart. Holy. And He is Owner. For what is creating,  If not a right to ownership? So we cannot truly own anything. He does. We are simply stewards. Hm. Do I live like this? "In the beginning was  the Word, and the Word was  with God, and  the Word was God.   He was in the beginning with God.   All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being." John 1:1-3 "For by Him all things were created,  both  in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether  thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities— all things have been created through Him and for Him....

Happy Thursday all! It's been a crazy week. It's funny how sometimes we don't appreciate the simple,  Yet good things of life-- Till we've gone without them. Today I'm thankful for those things: A dry (or mostly so) basement, A washer and dryer, Hot water for my shower, A good night of sleep, And also other things: Coffee and tea with a dear friend, Being able to cook for friends last night, Real people. People who make me laugh, Music, Songs, The music writing process, chocolate :D God's Word, The constant access I'm granted to the throne of God through prayer, Family connection time, People chipping in to help after the flood, A sump pump, Strawberries turning red :) Lily leaves growing, Wedding pictures on the wall, Candles, Blankets, Books, Getting to catch up with my brother. :) For these and many other things, Lord I praise You!
