Learning to live for HIS glory

Hi friends!  It's that time of week...time to take 5 minutes out of my day to thank the Lord for His many blessings.  I have not been as faithful to record those blessings here lately, as school has been keeping me pretty busy and Thursday's are a bit of a crazy day, but I still have ever so much to praise Him for.  I always have ever so much to praise Him for...much more than 5 minutes will ever allow me to write, but for this week anyways, here's 5 minutes worth of my thoughts on all the Lord has blessed me with: Time...without it, when would anything get done?? Getting to hold baby Camille this past weekend. Block towers built with Patrick and Carl. Conversation, and the chance to go deep and real with others on how we live out this Christ-centered life. Montgomery Today's thankful Thursday post is going to be a bit different.  See instead of a list, I'm going to tell you about one thing (sort of) that I am super thankful for from these past couple weeks, and how God has been using it in my life.  I'm praising the Lord today for men and women of the faith who have gone before me, and the example of their lives. I've been working on this project for school on 5 key figures in church history.  It's meant skimming a bunch of biographies over the past week or so...but as I've done that I've been amazed by all I can learn even if I don't really read something!  And I have also come away incredibly humbled and challenged.  I finished up the project last night around 10pm, but I don't want to forget what I've learned... Did you realize that Fanny Crosby had Genesis-Deuteronomy, most of the New Testament, man...

How Great and Awesome is my God! Today I praise Him for: His power His grace Hearts following hard after Him Walks in the fall air Returning guests Good conversations  Prayer TESOL class :) My teachers The opportunity to learn  Sleep... And with that I turn to sleep, one of the many good gifts my Creator gives Because He knows we need it!  Praise Jesus, Goodnight!

Last week this list went in my journal... Tonight it's short and sweet: I'm thankful for... A God who hears me when I pray. My Refuge and strength and stronghold. Good & honest conversations. His peace that surpasses understanding. Sleep. Grace overflowing. Love. Learning.

Change...there's a lot of it taking place in my life right now! But as I try to adjust to the new normal (which will be normal for how long?), I rejoice in the everlasting God as my constant constant. When all else changes, He remains the same. So today I praise Him for: Grace upon grace. Love undeserved. His character of love and gentleness. His character of holiness and righteousness. His character of justice and compassion. The gospel. His GOOD gifts: Cool breezy days. A computer that works well for school. Stacks of books for learning. Friends that I can talk about the struggles and joys of life with. Forgiveness when I fail... (for I'm realizing more and more how much I fall short.) His sovereignty and trustworthiness. John Waller's "While I'm Waiting." Today, in the midst of the changes and uncertainties, I choose praise.

I'd be thankful!   But without further adieu, here is this weeks 5 minute list of things I am praising God for:   The gospel...the grace and love of God poured out on me, an unworthy sinner. Love, and the beauty of it...especially in our "unlovable" moments. Water...I am so thankful God made water!! Phones to stay connected across the miles. Checked off to-do lists. Honest conversations. My mom.  I love her! Books coming in the mail. New beginnings. Friendly little boy grins. Bare feet in the rain. Simple little pleasures of life.  It's Thursday y'all! And with that comes the opportunity to take a few minutes and count my blessings.   So here's five minutes worth of the things I am thankful to the Lord for! His mercy and forgiveness. Grace upon grace. New strength for the challenges of each day. Flowers.  Fresh air and sunshine. Hikes with my family.  God's Word...life to my soul! Cards in the mail. Books ordered. Encouraging phone calls. Sunsets. Sleep. The uncomprehendable love of God. Laughter. Truth. Friends, planes, and exciting news. Well, my list is done for the day...what's on yours?
