7.19.18
The last few weeks have reminded me of the brevity of life.
Unexpected losses,
Bad accidents,
Sometimes it just hits you that this life is short,
And the number of our days is completely unknown to us.
How thankful I am that my hope,
My security,
My joy,
DON'T rest in this life alone.
Instead I live with hope of eternity,
Because of Christ,
My substitute.
It's also been a week that's reminded me of how very much I need Him.
I am a flawed, sinful, messed up person.
That is true.
But the greater truth is that CHRIST isn't.
He is perfect in every way,
And by His life, horrible death, and resurrection,
He has given me His righteousness.
So when I fail,
I can rest on His unchanging grace.
That is true comfort.
And that is true LIFE.
To know Him.
And to press on to know Him more.
How thankful I am for these truths,
And also that He does not hide Himself from us.
He is the faithful, loving, "Hound of Heaven"
Always chasing after our hearts,
And continually interceding for us before the Father.
I'm thankful.
Thankful to have such an awesome God.
He is worthy, worthy, worthy of praise.
And I want my life to declare His praise every moment of every day.
For when I think of what He's done for me,
There is not a better response,
And no better way to live.
I know I get distracted-
Caught up in things centered on me,
But I'm not worthy.
He is.
I'm thankful for His faithfulness to remind me of this when I stray.
Reading Exodus today,
I'm also amazed at His willingness to love and put up with me.
It's so easy to scoff at the Israelites...
At how they seemingly always complained and didn't obey.
But God loved them,
And continually kept them as His people,
Even when they strayed.
I'm thankful that His love extends now to me too,
And for His dedication to finishing the work He has started.
He faithfully puts truth in my life,
Through His Word and the wisdom of others saturated in His Word.
And He continually and lovingly,
Draws me back to the gospel,
Through His wonderful and amazing Grace.
